Unit Histories

Unit Histories

"Submitting our Histories [by submitting stories] provides a stewardship of the activity, growth, and spiritual well-being of our Stake. I testify that by providing an accurate and faith-filled History, we are blessed as families and as a Stake for fulfilling the mandate that ‘There shall be a record kept among you’ (Doctrine and Covenants 21:1)."  –President Osborne

The New Unit History Tool

Using the Church's new Unit History tool "allows wards and stakes to submit, approve, and publish their own histories."

"Wards and stakes are encouraged to use the Unit History tool to submit stories rather than submitting those stories as part of an annual history."

"In the new Unit History tool, stories can be written by leaders serving in ward and stake callings. Stories will be reviewed by local leaders, and members will be able to see approved stories online from their own ward or stake. Stories submitted through the Unit History tool will be automatically saved and archived.

"Preparing and submitting these histories helps fulfill the Lord’s charge: “Continue in writing and making a history of all the important things … concerning my church. … And also, my servants who are abroad in the earth should send forth the accounts of their stewardships” (Doctrine and Covenants 69:3, 5).

Publishing Ward and Stake Stories

"Ward [and stake] stories are written and published as events happen, at any time. Ward [and stake] leaders may send invitations to organization leaders to write a story."

"Unit leaders are motivated by a desire to share experiences with members. They can publish stories throughout the year as events happen."

"Stories are available online to unit members immediately after they are published."

"Stories are automatically preserved  by the Church as they are published by individual units."
